Mél Hogan, director
Mél is a white settler scholar. She is the Director of the Environmental Media Lab and an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication, Media and Film at the University of Calgary. Since 2012, her work has focused on server farms and data centers (Critical Studies of the Cloud). Now, she’s looking at DNA-based data storage (Genomic Media).
Crystal Chokshi, associate director
Crystal is Associate Director of the Environmental Media Lab and a PhD candidate in Communication and Media Studies at the University of Calgary. Her research was recently recognized with an Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Scholarship, one of Canada’s preeminent doctoral awards.
Tessa Brown, heliotrope co-editor
Tessa is a Researcher in the Environmental Media Lab and one of Heliotrope’s co-editors. She is also an MA candidate in the Department of Communication, Media and Film at the University of Calgary.
